Week 7: November 21th & 23th- Tribute to Mister Leonard Cohen

- We remembered the film by telling each other about the plot of The Intern.
- We talked about the handout of the film.
- We got feedback on the writing of The Passenger.
- We practised some future forms with a photocopy with cards.
- We finished page 21 of the book with practice of future forms.
- We did the dictation on page 23.
- We tried to understand Hallelujah, by Leonard Cohen, sang by Rufus Wainwright and then we sang!!
- We warmed up by discussing and interpreting Leonard Cohen's lyrics.

- We did A Chinese Artist in Harlem, on page 22.
- We practised synonyms and how to politely agree using them with a synonym bingo!

Homework:
- Record a presentation on The Intern (organised, with a beginning and a conclusion ;-))) or another film, if you didn't see it, around these topics:
     1. What the film is about. The plot.
     2. Mention the main themes that are dealt with in the film.
     3. How does it compare to other films you have seen.
- Exercises 3,4 and 5 on page 28.

Week 6: November 14th & 16th- Film Festival!!!


- We talked about the films we had read about.
- We read about vocabulary related to films and had a look at the handout we are going to talk about next Monday.
- We saw and guessed a little bit about the trailer of The Intern.
- We did Worth a Visit, pages 20 & 21.
- We worked a listening about extracts related to different places.
- We revise different ways to talk about the future.
- We corrected exercise 2 (and 3 in class A) on page 168.
- We watched The Intern.

Homework:
- Page 21, exercises 7&9.
- Preparation of content for the handout about the film.

Week 5: November 7th & 9th, 2016- Starting unit 2

The Guardian

- We warmend up talking about the places we have visited.
- We practised vocabulary on cities and buildings.
- We listened to and took notes about a listening of a guided tour.
- We revised and practised relative sentences.
- We practised how to agree using synonyms.
- We listened to the beginning of the first speech of President elect Donald Trump  with the transcript and try to interpret it (scroll down to November 9th)
- We saw vocabulary on festivals and carnivals.
- We did the reading on the Venice Carnival.
- We practised vocabulary and interpreted the imagined story of our partners.
- We got the diagnostic vocabulary and grammar exercises back. This is the KEY
- We prepared for the Film Festival with a group competition on Famous Film Quotes.
Homework:
- Page 168, exs. 2 and 3.
- Pick up a film on the quotes handout and do a little bit of research about it to tell your partner in class.

Week 4: November 2nd, 2016- Voting for the Halloween winners

- We interpreted and described modern artworks.
- We voted the WINNERS!! of the Halloween competition: Marta Tobares and Paco Lluna!!!
Many congrats to both of you!!
- We saw The Passenger again and wrote the activity.
- We corrected the diagnostic listenings we had done the week before.
- We explained the security measures in case of an emergency.
- We did a grammar and speaking Find someone who... activity to revise the verb system.
- We had a look at the Sounds  of English (in class A, pending for class B)

Homework:
- Write a review as explained on page 7 in the Workbook. You need to do all the exercises on the page to write a better one!

Week 3: October 24th & 26th- Discussing art

- We warmed up reviewing talking about habits, telling plots and disagreeing politely.
- We played a video of a work of art: Michael Landy's Break down.
- We discussed art with famous quotations in the book: In the picture.
- We described a picture with new vocabulary and listened to an guide's explanation of two pictures.
- We revised the differences in use of adjectives and adverbs.
- We practised everything with the description of two more pictures.
- We practised talking about habits in groups for a minute.
- We did beginning of the year grammar, vocabulary and listening exercises.
- We saw a Halloween video: The Passenger.

Homework:
Page 167, exercises 2,3 and 4.
Page 15, exercises 1 and 3.
Write your contribution to the Halloween story.

Week 2: October 17th & 19th- Interests, habits, arts and films!

- We revised our first day.
- We got feedback about the introductory writing you had written.
- We started Unit 1: Entertainment, pages 8 and 9 A question of taste.
- We saw structures to talk about habits in the present and in the past.
- We saw adverbs and adverbial phrases of frequency.
- We spoke about habits.
- We saw adjectives to describe films, music and books.
- We listened to people talking about habits.
- We practise pronunciation and intonation of complete sentences.
- We practised structures to disagree politely.
- We did Telling tales, pages 12 and 13. We read a text and practised telling a plot.

Homework:
- Page 10 exercises 3, 4 and 5.
- Write a contribution to the Halloween Story.

Week 1: October 10th- Back to school!

Welcome to this new year. 
This Monday we're getting introduced to the basics of what the year is going to work like and we're also meeting our new teacher and classmates.

I'm giving you a short questionnaire with a little writing exercise to do in class and, yes! you're getting some work to do at home to make up for the rough beginning.
