Week 16: February 15th &17th- Mid-year exam to test the water

- We did the reading and listening part on Monday.
- Writing on Wednesday.
- We did some exercises related to the theatre play we are going to see on March 2nd.

Homework
- Reading and Writing portfolio 3: write a proposal.
- Exercise 25 of the theatre pack.
- Read the readings on pages 56 and 57.
- Look for a joke or a funny cartoon in English and bring it to class for February 29th.
- Look for an add you like very much and prepare an explanation of why you like it. It might be on paper or on video. For example, one of my favourite adds ever!!

Week 15: February 11th- Going on with success

-We warmed up with the main ideas of Alain de Botton's A kinder, gentler philosophy of success.
-We did 5B The young ones.
-We wrote a valentine card for a classmate. We read our valentines!
Homework:
-Do some research on a person you consider successful for a short presentation on February 29th.

Week 14: February 1st & 3rd- Starting unit 5 and Success!

- We revised the story and structures we liked from IT Crowd's The Red Door.
- We discussed about the job of personal assistant and read about it in 5A Behind the glamour.
- We saw the meaning of a few prefixes in words related to the reading.
- We listened to a listening on the job of extra and practised intonation for emphasis.
- We saw the use of reflexive pronouns.
- We saw vocabulary related to work in 5C: Priorities.
- We listened to a conversation on work.
- We saw and practised conversational strategies.
- We talked about success and saw a short video by Alain de Botton titled Success.

Homework: exs. 2,3 4 and 5 page 43
