Week 24: April 18th & 20th- Preparing Cervantes & Shakespeare's celebration

- We read We'll be watching you and did the comprehension activities.
- We saw how to use impersonal report structures.
- We did a listening about state intervention on page 72.
- We practised impersonal structures with parts of real newspapers.
- We did 8C The pros and cons.

Homework:
-Describe the news on your newspapers using impersonal report structures.
- Exercises 7 and 8 page 72.
- Choose two questions from exercise 7 on page 85 and ask them to some of your friends, just a few. Take notes.
- Do a little research about the aspect of Much Ado About Nothing that your group is working on. If you didn't come on Wednesday and you don't know what we're talking about, then read a little bit about the celebrations in Britain to commemorate the 400th anniversary of his death. You'll be telling a group of classmates on Monday.
- Have a look at Much Ado About Nothing, we'll be watching it on Monday!

Week 23: April 11th & 13th- Mixing conditionals

- We revised the use of non-standard verb tenses in conditional sentences.
- We practised vocabulary with literal and metaphorical meanings.
- We listened to a police questioning and found out discrepancies in the criminal's alibi.
- We practised the writing pages of units 4 and 5.
- We tried to work out the lyrics of Your Song, by Elton John and sang!!

- Exs. 2, 3 and 4 pages 43 and 53.
- Photocopy of purpose.

Week 22: April 4th & 6th - Telling stories

- We told the stories we had prepared with the tips and strategies learnt in 6C.
- We practised pronunciation with the transcript of Obvious to You, Amazing to Others.
- We did 7A: Getting Away with it, exercises 1 to 4.
- We saw the commercial SunLife Launches Courtesy Pet Cover, an April Fool's joke. Try to do the exercise that comes with it. Go down to the entry on April 1st.
- We went through the grammar of mixed conditionals and the use of other verb tenses in the habitual conditional structures. We practised with the exercises of the workbook.
- We told stories with the joke exercise.
- We revised punctuation rules and received a photocopy to practise to/ing for purpose.

Week 21: March 30th- Resuming lessons after the break

- We warmed up by telling our stories from the sound file.
- We did 6C: Short Story Radio.
- We practised normal and extreme adjectives with Obvious to You, Amazing to Others, by Derek Sivers.

Homework:
- Prepare a story to be told at the beginning of the class as suggested in ex.8 on page 64 and having in mind the techniques in ex.9, page 65.
