Week 20: 2nd & 4th March - Finishing unit 6

- We revised and practised modal verbs and structures to express different levels of certainty about the future in 6B: Rebel.
- We saw feedback about written and oral productions in the february exam.
- We saw different ways to interrupt with different levels of politeness in 6D: Sorry to interrupt!
- We practised polite intonation.
- We practised stress in compound adjectives.

Week 19: 23rd & 25th February - Exam results

- We practised reduced infinitives to avoid repetition.
- We did 6A: Codes of conduct and practised the uses of the -ing.
- We corrected the reading and grammar and listening of the mock exam in February. This is the key.
- We gave feedback of the written composition.
- We did 6C: Dress Code and practised back referencing.
- We did a gapped exercise on Fix you by Coldplay (the use of will)

Homework: reading plus multiple choice questions in a photocopy.
Portfolio 1 plus from the handbook (page 22), about 80 words.

Week 18: 16th & 18th February - Back to normal

Montblanc- The Beauty of a Second
- We revised the future continuous tense with imagined sentences about 2050.
- We saw work vocabulary and collocations in 11A: Meeting up.
- We did a gapped exercise on the dialogue on page 76.
- We saw the future perfect tense and practised on page 77.
- We did another gapped exercise on a dialogue about art exhibitions in 9C: Is it art?
- We saw how to avoid repetition with reduced infinitives and missing words.
- We read and saw a video about Michael Landy's Break Down.
- We practised homonyms.
- We saw two videos about Montblanc's contest. The first compilation of videos and the presentation by Wim Wenders.

  • Homework: Make a video about something beautiful and send it to teacher. Five seconds maximum.
  • Ex. 1 and 2c page 48

Week 17: 9th & 11th February - Break for the mock exam

- We did the grammar, vocabulary and reading part on Monday, together with the listening comprehension exercises.
- We did one writing production on Wednesday.
- We told stories from cards about past experiences.
- We did a listening comprehension about reading in English.

Homework: ex. 5 and 6 page 77 Student Book

- We revised future forms and future continuous.

- We saw a video called Songs that include the future tense.
- We saw that Jeffrey Hill is back and the possibility to do a MOOC by the British Council.
- We did oral practice on conversation on Friday.

- We told jokes with dramatic present.

- We practised rhythm and stress in weak/strong forms of auxiliaries.
Homework: -Complete extra exercises on like/as, the, will/going to from English Grammar in Use.

Week 14: 19th & 21st January - Full into narrating stories

- We revised verb tenses related to narrating.
- We told each other two new urban legends.
- We saw the parts of the film Kangaroo Jack related to our urban legend.
- We did a listening exercise on the narrating of an annecdote on page 37 and learnt about how to mark or predict what we are saying next.
- We reviewed and got feedback on the recordings you had sent on the film.
- We learnt vocabulary and expressions to exaggerate and to show surprise or lack of it.
Homework: - Prepare a story to tell, do ex.7 page 39 using exaggerations.
- Do Reading and writing portfolio 4 from the workbook: the writing of a biography.
